Resurrection

Sing hallelujah hollaback, my computer isn't dead. All it took was a new charger from a generous gentleman caller and my little buddy was back, ready to hold more blurry weekend photos and provide me with brainless internet videos. I sat in her warm glow last night idly wandering through the Internet, realizing more and more that my computer is often more of a distraction than it is a tool, and how much I've enjoyed cutting the electronic tether at the end of each work day.

But I'm back. Both online and in NYC, after a ride on the bus that included a seatmate showing me his laptop's porn collection (show-off) and a woman going insane on line and being physically removed by New York's finest. I enjoyed my brief stay in New England, not only because of Ryan's adorable dimples but for the chance to get away from the city.

Ryan and I played house all weekend, laying by the pool judging the parenting skills of his neighbors, grocery shopping and struggling with cooking dinner, then retiring to separate bedrooms. It was restful and relazing and amazing. Still, when the bus rolled back through Harlem, when I opened my front door and when my friends and I stood in the corner of a dark club pointing out skinny dudes, I was glad to be back.

Still, it's been awhile since I returned from Massachusetts and Ryan's suburban basement apartment. So where have I been spending these first days of summer, besides sweltering in an office where the AC is broken?

Oh, I've been around.

New England misses you.

That's not true, New England is getting along just fine, but I miss you.

Now that you're computer's fixed, send me those few pictures you took. I like to see myself through others' eyes.

I tried to hold myself back, but it would be against my nature: You spelled "resurrection" wrong. If it's some ironic, hipster spelling, then I apologize for my lameness. If it's not, then you should apologize.
