About This Site

name: jeremy

this, obviously, is my personal site. nothing fancy. mainly due to the fact that I'm too busy with other things to twiddle with this thing. not that it doesn't deserve twiddling (don't we all?) but other things take priority. things like "having a life" or trying to do so. helping a non-profit organization. free-lancing here and there. beta-testing software. research. riding on two wheels. travel. reading. listening to music. watching movies on dvd. making movies. making graphics. food. sleep. and friends.

I really dig digital video (DV) as it is inexpensive, easy-to-use and it looks great it most all cases. Things like a PowerMac with Final Cut Pro make me happy and powerful (in theory). Mainly I make short flickers and things related to events but... not quite documentaries.

graphics also interests me (it should, it is my job) and the simplest explanation for what I do on a daily basis is this: "I make the average models into the supermodels." or perhaps "I make beautiful garbage." photo-retouching, manipulation and compositing are daily tasks as well as general prepress and advertising-related things. almost always fun work. otherwise I wouldn't do it.

I don't use an alarm clock. this makes me very happy.

there is no tolerance for lactose here.

even though it might seem like I am a high-tech guy, I appreciate vintage things (vehicles, homes, furniture, photos) and often seek them out.

having a close, intimate relationship with tons of silly private in-jokes is a good feeling.

beta-testing
I have beta-tested (and hopefully assisted with) several bits of software over the last several years, either through work or on my own. this is a partial list:
Fauve X-res - (bought, and apparently killed, by Macromedia)
Adobe InDesign - (amazing and underrated)
Adobe Photoshop - (still no two-point scaling!)
iView Media Pro - (stunning and easy to use)
MPLAY - (small and sweet)
MovableType - (brilliant and elegant weblogs)

thanks for visiting
