Sure enough, round about midnight, as predicted, Apple released their new operating system - Mac OS X. I've already downloaded the X versions of iTunes, iMovie, OmniWeb and more and I might just go buy OS X first thing in the morning. I have the fortune of being only 5 blocks from an Apple dealer! Whoo-hoo. The new OS really looks solid and nice and I can't wait to use all that unix-y goodness with all the new features and the Mac usability. This thing will be good. The only slight catch here is that I recently put in a Sonnet G4 chip in my beige G3 and this config isn't "officially supported" by Apple. Sonnet says they'll be able to make work in short order and the basics will work right now, so I think I'll get it. It is too cool, too long needed. Apple will kick butt with all this new stuff...
posted by jeremy at 01:39 AMok, been playing around with some old/new technology and you may have noticed a new link over in the left column. I don't know what will become of this, but for now, my Mac is running CoolCam (when I tell it) and snapping shots of me through a very old Panasonic WV-1410 security camera that used to be hooked up to my Amiga DigiView setup all those years ago (whew!). Gosh oh golly, a glimpse into the daily rock-star-like life of jeremy! exciting!
posted by jeremy at 12:56 AMYeah, yeah, I know - it has been a while since I posted anything here but come on! I've been busy with all sorts of nifty things!
Firstly there is "the movie." I, we, have been shooting a short movie for a film festival out in California and it has mostly been going well. Tonight we reshoot the big attack/fire scene - our one big special effect. The first attempt looked really lame and it was raining out. Not what I wanted.
Secondly is the whole moving thing - getting things arranged is very time-consuming, not to mention having to pack up all my stuff. And I've lived here in this place for, um... , five years I guess it is. Wow. I've never lived in one place that long before!
That's a short explanation. More later.
