Ah, the unshakable logic of my wife, ladies and gentlemen: "Repo Man?! I can't watch Repo Man! I get migraines from watching any movie with Emilio Estevez! In high school while watching The Breakfast Club I got a migraine. Like a year later, watching The Breakfast Club again - migraine. Later, while watching The Mighty Ducks - migraine. What do those three movies have in common? Emilio Estevez!"

I met Melody Gilbert and Chuck Olsen and a bunch of other interesting folks. And oh man, am I torqued up and excited. I've been looking for a group of people like this and I tried finding them in the local Final Cut Pro group but that seems to have petered out and they were way more into the technical aspects of the software (which certainly has its place and I like that too) and I'm not interested in becoming an editor-for-hire -- I'd rather make my own movies and tell stories that reel people in (no pun intended) and strike an emotional or intellectual or humorous nerve, ya know? I've always been one to just dive in, research, teach myself and get things done. If I can learn from peers along the way, all the better. And I like that this group is direct and blunt and supportive and challenging - even if it scares me.

Today was new experience day -- Meg and I had our first ultrasound and we saw our little shrimp! I made a micro-documentary ('cuz I'm micro! our baby is micro!) and here it is for your viewing pleasure. Hey, another new experience -- I'm a video-blogger! You'll need Quicktime or something else that can play an .mp4 file. Click that picture!
Spent the weekend in Tomahawk Wisconsin for a family reunion and we had a great time -- hanging out with family, sleeping in a weird little cabin at Duck Point with a door that refused to function (can we say "fire hazard"?), giant bullfrogs (didn't have my camera), a Kwahamot water ski show (Meghan's mouth was open the whole time in amazement), a Friday night fish fry (tradition), a classic drive-in restaurant (deep fried pickles? yup. not the best thing in the world), canoeing, campfires and smores, and of course, some chipmunks! More pictures in the sidebar...
