Shots

Trixie had her two-month checkup and her first vaccination shots the other day and what a heart-breaking experience that was. Nothing like holding down your baby so a stranger can inflict pain upon her. Meghan wisely chose to stand back in the corner and weep silently. I had the task of trying to keep Trixie calm but the whole time I'm thinking, "great, now she's gonna associate pain with her poppa." She handled it quite well, considering the four different injections. We delayed her feeding a little bit so she could nurse right afterwards and that seemed to greatly soothe her (keep that trick in mind, fellow parents). Later in the day and the next morning she was just her normal self so the pain was brief for her. Our psychic pain lasted much longer, however.

Spiderbrace

Got my new toy production tool yesterday afternoon - the Spiderbrace 2 shoulder mount for my camera. Brilliant little device with a great design and an even better price point. Too bad I'm stuck in editing this weekend. Seems like it will be not only fun to use but functional (ie: comfortable) as well.

Toe, Broken

brokentoe.jpg
I think this is what a broken toe looks like... and feels like. I was working downstairs last night and I wasn't even moving at high velocity but suddenly there was a flood of pain consuming my body and I yelled out. Meghan, who typically takes such outbursts with... well... little regard (her mother once put Ben-Gay on her brother's leg because it hurt - it was fully broken! - I think this is her training), came running downstairs to actually check on me (thankfully). There must have been something to the tone or duration of my holler that struck a nerve (no pun intended). Now I just have to remember what it was in case of actual life-threatening emergency. Meanwhile, I'm going to the doctor because, well, it looks like my toe was colored with a purple marker and during the night I must have been stretching out my legs and toes because I moved something and I was immediately awake! Yow!
UPDATE: Ok, here's the ocular proof, which you can just barely make out - the tip of my bone has a small fracture in it (the dark spot). And pretty much no space between the middle phalange (do I even have a joint left?). Nothing to do for it, though, except buddy-tape it to my middle toe and try not to bump it or bend it for a while. Well, that and some "sympathy cookies" (ahem).
