the drunken bicyclist

He was riding around on a ten-speed bike in front of Target tonight, looking very shabby and unkept, and he was loudly blurting out in a sing-song voice "I'm drunk... and I don't care... I'm drunk... and I don't care." Some young punks were sitting around outside and he rode over to them. They looked mostly amused, a little wary. "I'm drunk and I don't care." This got little response from the punks. "I'm gonna start a band," he exclaimed. The punks were now interested. "Yeah, Alcoholica." The punks were confused. They repeated the name as a question. "Yeah, Alcoholica. You know, like Metallica, but drunk." This greatly amused me but the punks didn't react much, probably playing it safe due to their close proximity to the drunken biker. If they encouraged him he might not go away, or if they mocked him he could get belligerent. "I happen to be one of the greatest musicians in the world. Oh yeah. As great a musician as John Lennon" he loudly proclaimed while staggering to hold up his bike. I laughed out loud. But I believed him. The punks weren't so sure.
