5x24 Summary
Yes, I (and when I say "I" I mean "we") made a movie for the 5x24 movie event this past weekend. Whew. Tough but fun thing to do. Bill, Michelle, Jack and I got the sentence, brainstormed Friday night, shot Saturday morn and afternoon, rushed together an edit and ran off to the showing only to find that the website had an incorrect start time listed. Curses! We would have had at least another hour to edit (and could have used it)!
Our piece, "The Hat," was a sort of "Where's Waldo?" take on the Rilke poem from which the sentence was taken. I don't know if people got it. Perhaps because it was too short and a tad too serious. Or maybe it was the 150-degree heat in the gallery. (Cripes, it was oppressive in there. Everyone had big wet sweaty spots on their clothes. Nobody cared, though). Ideally, we would have had another couple of edits in the piece and it would have been much stronger.
The pieces overall seemed to be better than the first time we participated and a couple stood out as particularly well done. I personally enjoyed the "Fly on the Wall" piece which was very well thought-out and well executed. I also liked the final piece which had one of the better sex scenes I've viewed -- very nice without being too explicit. From "amateurs" no less. Take that, Hollywood!

I'd like to add my two cents worth as one of the other "directors" of "The Hat"
First I want to point out that Jeremy is wrong. It was at LEAST 175 degrees in the gallery. and there were NOT big sweaty wet spots...there was just one big sweaty wet spot in that room..... about the size of Lake Harriet. That said, I had a blast doing this. I would encourage anyone who reads this to do it. We were a bit buggered by the wrong time issue. It was very hot that day and as we went from one location to the next we sort of wilted and slowed down. This cost us in the end. I think we had a great idea but when we got to editing it, we had to go so fast to make the (percieved deadline) we had no time for even thinking about editing very much. End result ...was not our best effort...Frustrating thing is, we had good footage and a good idea just didn't have the time to execute it. I'm not sure about the others, but I am eager to tackle another one.
I love this 24 hour concept! Just get the theme and go. As for our next movie? I can see Jeremy is already lobbying for us to include a good sex scene in it. I am good to go with this, so I am starting my casting calls early.... Any really hot women reading this that want to have torrid sex with Jeremy in our next movie contact him at this site...... :-)

Ok, maybe it WAS that hot and sweaty. And thanks, Jack, for pimping me out on my own website! Sheesh... I'm not auditioning at this time. :^)
