Arbor Lakes?

Why is the huge 'development' in Maple Grove called "Arbor Lakes"? The land has been razed to raw gravel pits and there is nothing remotely resembling an arbor as far as the eye can see. In fact, what the eye can see is glob after glob of retail chain establishments... putting a fancy name on it does not make it so.

They call it "Arbor Lakes" because it more closely resembles an arbor than any other civic/residential/commercial centers in Minnesota.

"Arbor: A shady resting place in a garden or park, often made of rustic work or latticework on which plants, such as climbing shrubs or vines, are grown." -www.dictionary.com

"Lakes: 1. A large inland body of fresh water or salt water. 2. A scenic pond, as in a park." -www.dictionary.com

Put the two words together and you have what resembles one of the most ambitious residential/commercial ventures in Minnesota. Arbor Lakes will no doubt be one of the most successful designs in the history of our state.
