i'm one of those geeks who go on opening day. i, too, loved this film. although, when someone asked me what i thought of it i realized that i don't think of them as three separate films. i think of them as one long film that i only get to see part of at a time. so, i feel like reserving my final judgement for the film until next year when we've finished it.

but, from what i've seen so far, i agree with the three wows. i've seen fellowship several times, and am looking forward to seeing the two towers again.

Oh My God ..where to start?
This is a BIG movie...and that is an understatement. First of all I have to admit I was a bit taken back by the fact that this 2nd movie did not follow the book nearly as closely as the first movie. I mean what's with Aragorn going over a cliff??? There isn't enough action in this book that you have to make up stuff?? Plus there are some huge ommissions that I don't understand.... Still, I am willing to give Peter Jackson the benefit of the doubt till the last book/movie comes out. He may be just re-ordering some things for the sake of pacing. That said ....WOW WOW WOW is right.(I'd even give it three more WOW's just for Gollum/Smeagol)
Meesa say, "bye dee bye Jar Jar, you suck!" I am just blown away by the whole Gollum/Smeagol experience. From the stand point of technical prowess in animation, the bar has been reset to an unheard of height. As an empathetic character who's emotions we could read, feel and believe?? I don't have the superlatives. This creature EXISTS...AND, he can fu**ing act too!(Does anyone who has seen this, NOT feel sorry for this poor tortured pawn of inescapable destiny? The audio work is superb without being over the top, and did I mention...... this film is HUGE!!!!!

At the risk of being redundant...WOW!

This may even approach the greatness of Battlefield Earth or Left Behind.
