Apple Ups Ante Apple released some tweaked PowerMacs today -- 1 ghz, dual 1.2 and dual 1.45 ghz machines along with a new 4x SuperDrive (DVD-burner) ... and... a new 20" Cinema Display! Woohoo. I want the display, yes indeed. And don't forget, this weekend is the release of the new/updated iLife (iMovie, iDVD, iPhoto) software. posted by jeremy at 12:14 PM | On This Day:

Now that I want my next computer to be a laptop, they lower the prices on desktops! posted by: Lauri on January 28, 2003 9:43 PMLowering prices??The BASTARDS! We must retaliate by buying both models to show them who's boss. posted by: jack on January 28, 2003 11:29 PMis anybody else as unimpressed with the jump in speed this time as I am. yes.. 1.4ghz is fast.. but really.. I suppose that is why they didn't introduce it at the Mac expo. posted by: bill on January 28, 2003 11:53 PMIt's a bit less than a 13% speed increase as far as the processors go. As those speeds have gotten higher the jumps, smaller. However, they have added the new 800 firewire, a huge jump. Double the 2meg cache, Big bump, faster throughput system and bus, so overall the anticipated speed increase for the WHOLE system is more like 25 -35% This is HUGE in today's "really got to squeeze to get a drop of speed" reality. plus we have seen a massive drop in price..I predict this will kick sales in the ass posted by: jack on January 29, 2003 1:29 AM |
