New iPods Augh! Now I've got an itch that I have to scratch -- the new 40 gigabyte iPod (that's 10,000 songs in your pocket!) was introduced today! Oh, and new iMac updates. Next week's announcements? PowerBooks? posted by jeremy at 12:00 PM
As all upgrades do, this makes me sad. I just spent $500 on a 20gb iPod last winter. If I'd waited nine months, I could have doubled the size. Of course, the iPod isn't all that I had hoped so far. Part of the problem is that my iBook (my only Mac so far) has only a 13gb hard drive. When your iPod has more storage than your computer, it's kind of a waste. Too, there's the fact that when I listen to music I'm mostly sitting at my computer. It's easy then to just use an mp3 player. The only other time I listen to a lot of music is when driving, and I've found it bloody frustrating to work the iPod controls and drive at the same time; I just listen to CDs instead. Was my iPod worth $500. No. But if I'd bought a 5gb model for $300, I might have considered it a deal. posted by: J.D. on September 8, 2003 12:25 PMI've been holding out for an iPod for a year. But the thing is... when do you stop waiting? There will ALWAYS be a better upgrade in about six months. BUT, meanwhile, my music/mac/geek friends are all rockin' out with their iPods and I'm not. Also, I heard of a great addition (iRadio) that lets you connect your iPod to your car stereo. Now THAT'S worth waiting for! posted by: Flinger on September 11, 2003 2:44 PMI bought the 30 gb Ipod a few months ago. I have 34 unabridged books (from Audible.com) and my entire mp3 collection on it, and I have yet to fill a quarter of the space available. I also heard that you can also connect the Ipod to your car radio via an adapter. posted by: Sandy on September 21, 2003 3:07 PM |
