Shots Trixie had her two-month checkup and her first vaccination shots the other day and what a heart-breaking experience that was. Nothing like holding down your baby so a stranger can inflict pain upon her. Meghan wisely chose to stand back in the corner and weep silently. I had the task of trying to keep Trixie calm but the whole time I'm thinking, "great, now she's gonna associate pain with her poppa." She handled it quite well, considering the four different injections. We delayed her feeding a little bit so she could nurse right afterwards and that seemed to greatly soothe her (keep that trick in mind, fellow parents). Later in the day and the next morning she was just her normal self so the pain was brief for her. Our psychic pain lasted much longer, however. I guess the good news is that she isn't likely to remember any of these first few years of life, anyway. posted by: Julie on March 26, 2006 6:38 PMI know how tough it is, but think how much harder it would be to see her suffering through some preventable childhood illness if she hadn't bean vaccinated posted by: bill on March 26, 2006 7:51 PMPost a comment
