WeeklyDV: Soundtrack

The new WeeklyDV capsule is now online - check out all the submissions! The theme was "soundtrack" and required all participants to use the same piece of music for their movie. I think it was a tough piece of music to work with due to its melancholy/reflective nature and I have an idea for another short piece based on this music (when I have some free time). My flicker is called "Soundtrack to Autumn" and took about 5 hours total to complete (shoot, edit, compress, upload, etc). If you have any feedback, I'd love to hear it but would prefer if you posted the comments on the weeklydv site (and encourage others to do the same).

After Life

Check out this amazing photography/flash site "After Life." Simple appearing. Very nice. Powerful imagery. Makes me wish I knew Flash like that.

WeeklyDV Returns

Whoohoo! WeeklyDV.com returns from hiatus with a new theme for this coming week: Soundtrack. You must use the provided song as the soundtrack to your video, otherwise, anything goes. Must be finished by next Thursday. Ready? Go!

Yipe! New iBooks!

Whoa. Didn't see this coming: Apple's iBooks now feature a G4 processor -- no more G3 cpu. Wow. Nice upgrades, too, including USB 2 and AirPort Extreme (WiFi 802.11g). Decent prices. But no option for SuperDrive unless you get the PowerBook G4.

oooh, owwww, ahhhhh

Eight bundles of shingles, five pounds of nails and eight hours of squatting up on the roof of my garage and I'm finally done re-shingling. Bill helped me out last weekend (12 bundles and five pounds of nails) and I finished it up today. No more leaky roof! But I hurt all over from being in a hunkered down position all day... I can't imagine how it'll feel in the morning.
Last week the basement windows were all removed and replaced with very nice glass block with vents. No more drafty single-pane glass and bug-entry gaps! (Meghan doesn't like creepy crawlies).
The bathroom is still in progress as the tile still has not arrived. Argh. Next week, I'm told. I hope so.

iPod Gear?

Should Apple come out with new iPod accessories today (ie: my dream of a memory-card reader) along with their supposed announcement of iTunes for Windows, I'll have a Sima Image Bank for sale. It worked flawlessly during my two weeks in Italy and has a 10-gig drive in it. And I'll probably have a 10-gig generation-2 iPod for sale as well since I'll need a new iPod for the new feature(s).

UPDATE: Ok, they did iTunes for Windows and new iPod software with support for voice recording and importing digital files from memory cards (with a $99 adapter). This is just wrong. Belkin is the company with the external reader so I don't really blame Apple but it is bigger than the iPod. No no no! Wrong. Plus it takes 4 AAA batteries. Hello? I've got an iPod with a battery in it, I've got a digital camera with a battery in it -- now give me a simple connection/converter cable to hook the two together! I don't need a third device to lug around. I need a cable from camera to iPod!! Griffin? Somebody? Help! (This is the time when I wish I was an engineer-type of person with a development budget). I think I'll try to wait for something in the future... argh. Although Meghan is enjoying iTunes on her PC now!

Cool Design Stuff

My pals over at CSA did the Halloween designs for Target this year, which I think are real keen, and Shag has some new prints and some fonts available. Nice.

Travels

jmtravel370.jpg

Guess where we've been for the past few weeks... where I took a few hours of video and something like 1027 pictures and the ImageBank worked just great (but took a while to copy the pix to the computer via USB 1.1).
