Cool Tech Pace

So Apple came out with updated iPods yesterday and that sparked a conversation (with Meg and her mom) that Apple makes you feel like a chump whenever you buy something from them because a short while later they come out with something cooler/better/cheaper. Sure, the tweaked iPods are nice but where the hell is the wireless support and the direct camera link? (Yes, I've heard, they have a "small white plastic" dongle thingie to connect between cameras and iPods for $29 and it comes out in March. But still, another thing I have to carry or remember or potentially lose? And does it require batteries or not?)
My response to the chat was this: the pace of technology is quick, but the pace of cool is even quicker. That is the ultimate price you pay.

It was a good day...

After a huge presentation (that went very well) we got in our Chevy Blazer, turned on the radio, Ice Cube's "It was a good day" was playing... Cruising the streets in LA .... But not without our GPS.

ZITS!

Damn, you start working really hard, busting your butt on important new work (INW) and wouldn't you know it, but you start looking like you are 15 years old again. I mean, seriously, an acne flare up at 35? Not just one small one, either, but a nice bright foreheader and two straddling my schnozz. Yes, one giant zit on either side of my nose. Those kind that are red and throbbing and deep underground. The kind that won't be dealt with by a quick application of direct pressure. The kind that hurt when you squint or wiggle your face. Stress has always been a factor in my life, a lot of it self-induced, but it always has done a good job of motivating me so I'm OK with it. But when it comes to considering the wearing of cover-up or perhaps a large heavy grocery bag over my face so I can attend to INW... well, the stress has got to go. Today I plan to do nothing. As much nothing as possible. Which actually won't be much, but I can live in denial for a while and hopefully it will be enough.
