Our little house decorated (subtly, not garish) for the holiday season. Christmas trees, lights and snow. Sing along: "It's the most wonderful time..."
I took some pictures of this building almost a year ago and now I finally got a shot of it from up on high... from the top of the IDS, in fact.
Riomaggiore, Italy on the night of October 6, 2003 (my birthday). Riomaggiore is located in the Cinque Terre - a most amazing landscape of mountainous vineyards above tiny fishing villages.
Early summer nights, bright lights at the ball field, playing, laughing, hanging with friends, fighting mosquitos, drinking liquids...
Imposing concrete columns in the dim light of a parking garage in downtown St. Paul. Follow the light...
The color of light against the evening sky was a nice contrast and then a plane flew by as well. I patiently waited until it got to this spot and snapped the shot.
Not just any kind of junk from around the world, no sir-ee, good old fashioned American Junk! Yee-ha!
Yet another bar in downtown Minneapolis, this one in place of the old Pickled Parrot. The original fun bar?!? It hasn't even opened yet. How do they know? Maybe somebody should start one called "booze. the original sad/lonely bar"
Did you get to witness the amazingly huge moon over the skyline tonight? My heart was pounding, trying to drive quickly without getting a speeding ticket, searching for a good vantage point from which to snap off a few photos before it got too high in the sky and appeared merely normal.
I kept stopping the car and taking different shots of the giant moon. The sun was still visible in the west and this humungous moon was creeping up in the east. Amazing.
When the moon rose above the horizon tonight, it appeared gigantic, like out of a sci-fi movie where the planet has multiple suns/moons and one of them is big and close and looms in your view no matter where you look. It got me all excited.
Blue lights in a darkened room, some trip-hop playing on the hi-fi, unspoken fantasies flitting through my thoughts...
and a desktop version for irish-girl.
The view of First Ave. from the Target Center/Block E skyway on a chilly February night. First Ave (the music club) is behind the gigantic check-me-out-I'm-oh-so-cool neon guitar.
A happy result from a random shot. Taken in my backyard at about 10:30pm at night. Much wet snow falling throughout the afternoon and evening. Warm and beautiful appearance but dangerous for driving.
Just a small experiment with viewing the kitchen in the window overlooking the wet snowy night. Just a mild amusement (to me).
Murray's Steak House. Home of the butter knife steak. Or so I've heard. I've never been. But then, I don't eat red meat, either. Nice look to the place, though. Guess I have a thing for neon at night and that swanky sort of design.
I like the top half of the Sexworld building, but those horizontal pink and purple neon lights at ground level kind of destroy the coolness of the look.
One-thirty in the morning and the street near my house is silently illuminated by not only the street lights, but a partial moon hanging low in the sky. This is an un-retouched photo -- the colors really came out this way, which I thought was pretty neat looking.
It was a great night: a soft, creeping fog... a bright full moon overhead... cool refreshing darkness... the picture doesn't do it justice.
I snapped this shot of the moon upon exiting work tonight. Not a great shot, but I like it -- it is hard to get moon shots, I find.
