Riomaggiore, Italy on the night of October 6, 2003 (my birthday). Riomaggiore is located in the Cinque Terre - a most amazing landscape of mountainous vineyards above tiny fishing villages.
This picture is an entry in the Photo Friday: Overlooked challenge. Everything in this image has been overlooked at some point: the "wallpaper" of weekly adverts overlooked by consumers and discarded, the non-working clock on the back wall, the cardboard and thin plywood roof was overlooked as garbage by construction workers or shipping companies, the sheet metal siding overlooked as scrap and dumped. What this particular photo overlooks is the uneven packed mud and dirt floor and the lack of electricity and running water. Even the people, who still retain their friendliness and spirit, more often than not overlooked as well.
Location: township near Port Elizabeth, South Africa, 2000.
The color of light against the evening sky was a nice contrast and then a plane flew by as well. I patiently waited until it got to this spot and snapped the shot.
The Golden Gate Bridge, a truly special, nay, almost magical, structure over the bay waters at San Francisco. The view from the north end looking back towards the city was, however, obscured by the thick fog bank which rolled in right as I crossed over.
The cable cars in San Francisco at Powell and Market streets. You have to ride them at least once while you are there for the fun and the views.
All the trees and flowers are in full bloom in Woodstock, NY. Fragrant and beautiful. This one is having a private moment with a bee.
We ate lunch at the Mountain Gate restaurant in Woodstock, NY on Saturday. I love samosas.
A hippie-ish fellow was ambling around the town of Woodstock, NY, with this crazy homemade rickshaw. For a ten-spot you could ride around on hippie-power (he hooked himself into the harness) and listen to his goofy pan-pipe music he'd tootle out while hauling you through the streets. Looked like fun but we didn't try it.
